Electronica for audiophiles (Part 1)

Electronica for audiophiles.  Electronica that’s been immaculately pieced together and mastered to perfection.  There’s not as much of it knocking about as you might think.

Anyone can rattle off artist after classic artist from the last thirty or so years, but too much choice isn’t helpful to the newcomer – it’s bewildering! I’ve compiled a Top 10 that’s squarely focussed on more recent releases; ten albums that won’t scare away anyone new to electronic music, ten albums that sound stunning.

This list is intended as a welcome mat.  Enjoy:

  1. Nicolas Jaar – Space Is Only Noise (2011)
  2. Moritz Von Oswald Trio – Horizontal Structure (2011)
  3. Scuba – Triangulation (2010)
  4. Thomas Fehlmann – Gute Luft (2010)
  5. Pantha Du Prince – Black Noise (2010)
  6. Monolake – Silence (2009)
  7. Brian Eno – Small Craft on a Milk Sea (2010)
  8. Desolate – The Invisible Insurrection (2010)
  9. Seekae – The Sound Of Trees Falling On People (2009)
  10. The Orb and David Gilmour – Metallic Spheres (2010)
